Is there any way to lock the POWER button on LG washer?

Hi,

Is there any way to lock the POWER button on LG washer? My child used to spin the washing mode button so I started to use child lock feature but now he found the power button which apparently is not disabled by child lock. :D Or is there at least a way how to resume the washing from the point where it was turned off? :D

Is this a good question?

Hi @vrauza ,

You cannot “lock” the Power button as this is the button that controls the power to the machine.

Also once it is operated to turn off the machine, any programmed settings that were enabled for a particular type of wash cycle etc will be lost so the machine cannot be restarted from where it was during the wash cycle when it was turned off.

You may either have to deny your child access to the machine if possible, whilst it is operating or teach them that it is not appropriate for them to touch it when it is operating. Easier said that done I know ;-)

Not sure if this would work but you could try covering the switch with something like this and use it in conjunction with the child lock and check if this works. If it doesn’t then your child is smarter than the designers of the product

Completely pointless child lock then

by

yes completely useless... I just got the new machine... and was happy with its fancy features. but after this I realized the old LG machine child lock used to lock all buttons... that was good. old is gold...waste childlock..

by

@jayeff, that's exactly why this button would be blocked, cause is the button that control the power, and lose power on half work cannot be good for the machines. Child lock would block all buttons till I deactivate It...

I'm also not happy that can not lock power button!!!!!!

Completely pointless child lock!!!!!

When my child turning it off all programm is gone!!!!!!

Need to start again.....

Completely pointless child lock!!!!!

I don’t understand what the child lock actually locks…. The circle spin thing does nothing without child lock on and the touch screen also does nothing all it does do is stop the add item feature which isn’t the end all if it’s pressed. It’s easier to carry the was on it that was pressed….. no so easy when it’s been turned off and the cycle just ends without being able to carry it on

Hi @hollyyearn,

It is designed to stop any changes to the selected program options during a wash program. The worst that can happen is that the machine is turned off as supposedly only the Power button is functional when CL has been enabled.

It takes a combination of two buttons operated simultaneously to enable/disable the CL function which supposedly makes this "child proof" hence the name Child Lock.

Its the most pointless feature but they still include it and advertise it a decade on. But now its worse than ever because they have a sensor power button. If you want to use the child lock feature you will need the following for the power button
