OK so after a while...8 hours...the main screen came on to the slide to unclock screen but the screen was not responsive. no change with hitting the sleep and home button(attempted DFU) or logging into itunes. there is a white dashed revolving circle overlying the green battery charge. Starting to loose hope :( But thanks for all the suggestions!

don't lose hope. put the old display/glass back in and see what happens. You need to check your order that you have a 3g and not a 3gs display... sometimes we get sent/order the wrong product, and there are always faulty products that sneak through.

You didn't state how you tried to power on so I will assume you did just by pressing the iPod power button.

I just went through replacing the front of my iPod touch. I had to do the whole process twice because I am having an issue with it. Long story, short, mine would not power on either time without plugging in the usb cord that was connected to the wall outlet. Try that.

Excellent - plugging it into wall got it to power up to the apple screen, but after an hour it is still at the apple screen despite a hard reset or any button pushing. Any ideas now?

check that connector 4 hasn't been bumped off/press on a little to ensure connection. clean your dock connector of dirt and dust?

Have you tried plugging it into your computer with iTunes open now that it is on and at at the Apple logo?

I have also had lots of luck with other iPods with putting them in DFU mode. Watch this video because it is an exact process for DFU Mode.

OK so I ended up getting another part- to make sure it wasn't faulty. Replacement went well. Powers on, syncs with I tunes (did the restore), home and sleep button work, but screen lock won't slide. I checked connects 1,2,3 and 4 and all seem to seat properly. Seems like 2 maybe a little loose and perhaps that is it, but this last time I made sure it was firmly seated???.... Anybody?

Faulty or damaged digitizer? Which part did you buy?
