Only the red light comes on, Wii won't turn on

My Wii will not turn on. I was playing a game, and it suddenly switched off. The indicator light on the Wii itself turned red, but that is all that will happen. Other posts here and on other sites have talked about the blue light turning on briefly, or the Wii turning on and then off, but mine only stays off with the red light on. The Wii is not modded, though a long time ago I opened it and loosed one screw to get rid of the loud buzzing noise. Here is what I have tried so far:

Pressing or holding down the power button.

Result: Nothing with pressing normally. With holding there is a faint clicking noise, and a small, faint light blinks within the red LED. The clicking noise happens with the faint light appearing.

Pressing or holding down the reset button.

Result: Same as with the power button.

Pressing or holding down the eject button.

Result: Nothing different.

Wii has been disassembled and put back together, looking for loose wires.

Result: Nothing different.

Tightening the previously loosened screw.

Result: Nothing different.

Wii, accessories, and power supply unplugged for a long period and then replugged in.

Result: Nothing different.

Power adaptor plugged into different outlet.

Result: Nothing different.

I don't believe it's the power adaptor, as the red light comes on, but the red light is my only evidence for this. I don't have anyone near by with a Wii, so I haven't been able to try a different one.

I have seen there are two tiny fuses on the circuit board, but I don't have the equipment to test them.

Any ideas? Any help is very appreciated.

Update: still not working.

I have tested the fuses and both are ok.

The Wii Remotes do not turn it on.

The power brick doesn't come apart, and has no light to check if it is good. However, since the red light is on I would assume it is supplying power to the Wii ok.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

if you want to test that parts are getting power etc then a cheap multimeter is really useful, and you can use it on any other electrical project etc. You are most likely going to need one here..

will it turn on using wii remote?

did you take the power pack down to separate parts? ie both leads separate from power pack..for 2 minutes then plug in to wall and check power pack lights up? this resets the adapter. If that checks out then connect parts again and connect to wii and see if it resolves the problem.

I just spoke to a friend that I can borrow a multimeter from tomorrow, so I'll be able to post then (in Vienna, so it's night time here now) about what I find with that.

The Wii Remote does not turn it on.

The power pack does not come apart, it has two odd shaped "screws." I use quotes because there is no indent for a driver to fit into, instead it looks like something has to clamp on from outside. I moved from the States to Austria, so I had to buy a 3rd party power adapter to work with the voltage here. That was many, many months ago and it has always worked fine, so I assumed having a third party power pack was not the cause. There are no lights on the power pack to light up, though. But I have unplugged it from both the wall and Wii for a long time and it did not help.

have you got a bona fide power pack to try too?
