Why does my display keep freezing?

Hello,

I think that I hit my mbp at a weird angle.

Now I’ve got a black vertical line running down the screen and some flickering.

The strangest thing is that when too much of the color white hits the black line the entire screen freezes. Important to note that the computer still runs fine it is just the display that freezes.

Here is a 10 second video that should show the issue:

As you can see there is a vertical black pixel. I can pass dark objects through it however the moment I pass a white image over it it freezes.

1) I assume the only fix will be a new display?

2) From a pure academic viewpoint I’m curious why the screen is freezing when a white image passes the line. I assume that the black line is a hardware issue. However this specific issue seems more like a software issue.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sadly, you damaged the some of the vertical driver lines either the LCD or the ribbon cables to the T-CON board.

You’ll need to replace the display assembly to fix this
