I also experienced this. A sound from within the machine, a sort of wheezing sound that was apparent as I breathed in and out. It was a disturbing sound not having to do with an air leak from the hose, mask, or water tank, as I checked these possibilities first. I discovered the sound was coming from the motor itself. In my case, the motor in my machine was just five years old. I was able to replace the motor quite easily with the aid of a couple of YouTube instructional videos which were easy to find. I was able to purchase a replacement motor which I found on that large online shopping site. I believe it cost $129.00, and it arrived the very next day after I ordered it. I believe that just about anyone can replace their motor with the aid of an instructional video for which there are several on YouTube.

@rdb88385 sounds like a pressure related issue. Double check your device to see if it is related to the recent CPAP recall. If so you want to contact the company and get directions from that. If it is not, then I would still suggest that you contact ResMed (or your local DME company as well as your health care provider) and see if they can guide you. You are obviously using/needing it and we all want you to stay well

Re the squealing noises- That’s a definite problem with Resmed machines. I put a tiny smear of Vaseline at the back of the humidifier where it meets the silicon seals. Every so often I use a baby wipe or something similar to clean it off the seals and humidifier then reapply. That’s been working for me for over two years now. You can put some Vaseline around the edges too of the noises persist. I hope that helps Rockie.

Edwina! THANK YOU! This helped a lot. It didn’t take away the sound completely but it certainly helped reduce it significantly! I couldn’t sleep all night! 🥹

I have tried that as well as pulling my humidifier out during non use to avoid constantly compressing the seal. Both your comment and latter action above have helped the problem. I have a new part on the way. YouTube has a video on how to install the new seal.

Tighten the strap system as it shouldn't make noise and if it starts whistling put a small bottle of water on the door to the water tank. To stop the face farts tie a handkerchief over the gasket so it covers it and the gasket will last YEARS.

We had two brand new machines with this problem. We finally bought new ones of the latest model. Totally silent.

Resmed would not admit to any problems. My therapist says this is not uncommon-- fix is to replace motor or replace total unit.

When I breathe, my machine makes a squealing sound. It appears to be coming from the two seals that compress when the humidifier chamber is attached.
