Select button not working, no Clicker sound

Hi I have an Original iPod Gen1 and it’s have broken SELECT (centre) button and does not make Clicker sound even if it’s turn ON in the menu. How can I repair this issue and fix SELECT button ? Thank you in advance! Anton.

Update (03/17/2022)

I desolder scroll wheel completely in order to replace central button.

I've got capacitors in the mail today. Here is couple of pictures after disassembly of scroll wheel with heat gun. I replaced central button already, but having issue to put it in disk mode or reset.

In order to reset you have to push PLAY and MENU at the same time and after logo appears let it go and press REW,FF and CENTRAL button, but the thing is when I pushed PLAY and MENU it's start up's and I hear HDD spins, but right after I letting it go off buttons in order to proceed with next sequence of REV,FF,Central button it's shuts off with vertical stripe on display.

If I keep holding my fingers on the PLAY and MENU for extended time it's keeps loading to the point of folder icon, but as soon as I let go it's shut off.

Is anyone knows or could point me to right direction with this issue? It's seems iPod loosing contacts when I let go of this buttons and just shuts off.

I just to make sure that I'm understanding the question. The select button allows you to select content, but it does not make the click sound when the button is pressed?

Actually SELECT button don't work at all. I have to use HOLD switch in order to select items in menu. It's seems that metal pin under this button doest reach contact on the Logic board.

Their are ways you can repair/replace the scroll wheel without replacing the Logic board. I did find a really good article, written by Jason Ball, that details how you can take apart the scroll wheel and hopefully repair it.

Jacob thank you! This one is good!

I saw it's already. Doest solve my issue, though .

What method do you think is more suitable to completely remove control wheel with buttons and separate them from logic board? Should I cut the rivets of four white stand or should I melt it slightly with soldering iron and try to squeeze them out of sockets.
