Why is my LCD TV screen flickering?

My Samsung LCD tv screen started flickering recently and it resolves on its own after some time. This is happening repeatedly. The TV is nearly 10 years old and I am using Amazon Fire Stick for a year on the TV. I couldn’t figure out whether it is an issue with the power input or panel. I am attaching a photo for better understanding.

The model is LA32C530F1R. I guess it was a 2011/2012 model.

Joseph Jony what model is your Samsung TV? We would need to see the boards to try and assist you with this. So, time to remove the back cover and keep on taking pictures. Just unplug the TV first and try not to touch any board directly. There may be capacitors that hold a charge and could zap you.

The tv might need a display update you can download an update file on a thumb drive and put it in the back of the tv in the service slot. I’m sorry if that doesn’t work you might have to open the tv up and take a look at the connector from the motherboard. otherwise im sorry and hope you the best of luck on the repair

Often, these TVs have capacitors that go bad. I have fixed many. You problem could be a PSU issue and specifically capacitors. You must pull the back off to see this. Other than that it is a guessing game without more visual clues unless it totally dies. Then it may be easier to find the problem.

Bad capacitors will be the usually black cylindrical ones on PCBs. There may be many of different diameters and lengths. Primarily you are looking for the larger ones to start with. The tops have an X mark on top and the top is flat to slightly concave. If the top is at all convex it is between going bad and totally bad. It may also be leaking around the bottom.

If you find any, they need to be replaced.

Replacing these involves reading the values (MF and V) and measuring diameter and height, then searching on Digikey, Mouser, Newark, or other parts vendor.

@josephjohny looks like you got a lot of dust on your boards. you do want to clean all of that of. Use a vacuum and see if you can remove all of it. Take a close up of the boards. It is possible that those got shorted out. Remove the ribbon cables and clean the ends on those. Check for any damage on them. Clean your connectors. this is really important. Usually thing like double images etc. are related to the T-con board but can also be caused by a bad panel (worst case scenario). Do not forget to clean the inverter boards on the right hand side of your picture. Remove the metal shroud and proceed with the cleaning as well. Remember to post some close up pictures of your boards.

Taking a vacuum to electronics is not the best idea. It can result in component damage not to mention that most of the dust will remain stuck on. The preferred method of dust removal is to open the device as much as possible. Take it outside and use compressed air to blow out the dust.
