Sleep/Power Button and Volume Controls won't work after a repair

my ipod needed a new battery, so i took it to the "Fix-a-Phone" in my local shopping mall, after the phone repair "Specialists" replaced the battery, i tested all my buttons, and the Volume Controls as well as the Sleep/Power button were non-responsive, i asked the guy who fixed it about it and he said he couldn't help me because he didn't even go NEAR the buttons, i called a BS on that and now i don't know what tool(s) to fix this iPod P.S. I NEED TO HAVE IT FIXED BY CHRISTMAS 2011, HELP!!!!

He severed the flexicable that is right next to the battery. Talk to his manager and demand it be repaired by a real certified tech instead if some kid at the mall kiosk. If that gets you no where call the techs at Atlanta Cell Tech at 404-831-0399 and ask them about scheduling a repair.

I myself just completed the same task that you've asked about and its not a job for the faint hearted. If you want to give it a go you'll need a new volume/on-off flex about £6 off ebay. You will also need the plastic tools to open your ipod complete with the sucker, a heat gun, a soldering iron, solder, solder mop and a very small philips screwdriver. I would recommend de-soldering the battery before going any further to help prevent you shorting your ipod. After that you'll need to completely strip the ipod down (i.e circuit board, battery and both camera's out).

it's really not a good answer. Anything else you might want to add to it, something that is more productive?
