The power port is broken

anyone know a way to fix it?

Hi,

You said that “The power port is broken.” Do you mean that it is literally broken, just loose or appears to be OK but is just not working?

As the power port is hard mounted onto the systemboard, the laptop would need to be opened and the systemboard removed from the case and the port inspected as to what the problem is.

If loose, it may just need resoldering back onto the systemboard.

If broken, then it will have to be replaced. Replacement power ports (aka DC-In jack) are available online. Just search for Lenovo Y7000 DC-In jack (supplier example only) to get results.

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.45 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the systemboard. This will allow you to resolder or to replace the DC-In jack.

If doing this yourself seems too daunting, contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service and ask for a quote.
