What is this specific part, and is it repairable?

I broke one of the metal latch type pieces here.

Ouch! Best to visit an Apple Store or authorized reseller to fix your keyboard key. As this is such a new system we don’t know if the older 13” systems parts are interchangeable or not.

I’m also thinking your system might be covered under warranty depending on your countries laws. (if you took out the AppleCare + then it will be covered for sure)

Thanks for the reply, Dan. I live in the US so I am doubting any laws would classify this as a warranty repair, since it was my fault that it broke. I’m hoping that I don’t have to replace the entire top-case assembly. Wish me luck!

@shiro2k - I would get to an Apple Store to see what they can do for you. Sometimes they will fix things like this if its just the keycap and scissor mech parts (even for free!)

The scissor mechanism is still good, it just has nothing to mount to on the right side
