500 GB Hybrid Seagate SATA Hard Drive Causing Fan To Run Constantly

After installing the 500 GB Hybrid Seagate SATA Hard Drive...my computers fan runs constantly and is very hot. Will this damage my computer?

Overall if your fan is running higher than normal and it's still very hot then potentially yes you could damage your computer.

The specs on the hybrid seagate are much faster but your mac should be able to handle it with no problem if it's compatible. Check the model number and see if it's compatible with your mac.

If it is, there's a bigger issue at hand which might require some work on the motherboard (like re-pasting the heat sink, etc.). It is four years old after all and typically thermal paste lasts only a couple years with regular use...

Otherwise not sure why your fan would suddenly be overworking itself with the new hard drive.
