Mid 2015 15” retina into a 2014 15”?

I have a dead 2015 15 inch retina MacBook Pro. The display is fine. The display has the same video connector as well as iSight camera connector etc. All the cables match up perfectly on my one year older 2014 Retina 15 inch but when I powered on I’m not getting any kind of image on the 2014. Is this display not compatible with the 2014 inch model that’s only one year older? Again all the cables fit perfectly and fits just like the original so I’m assuming that it must not be possible even though the cables fit securely and are of the same pin count etc. and plug right in. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I have some zip cord which I use for my speakers which are too short to reach my stereo in my new room, if I happen to put on a AC plug on cords so I can use some AC extension cords to extend the lines to my stereo I better not mess up plugging the extension into the AC outlet! Otherwise the speakers will have a smoking hot time!

One can't assume a given connector is wired (defined) the same which is the case here.

That was just a weird analogy lol

Actually I’m asking the opposite. The 2015 logic board is done so I was hoping To use the display on my mid 2014 from the mid 2015
