Why wont my battery on MacBook charge?

The battery on my macbook wont charge. It works with the AC adapter plugged in. However, it shuts down immedeintly if unplugged. The battery status says it is not charging. There has never been any water damage and I have updated as much as possible. I read online that unplugging the device, taking out the battery, and holding the power button down for 10 seconds resets and supposedly fixes this issue. However, when i tried that all that changed was now my battery symbol has a black x in the middle and says no battery available. I have purchased a new battery and the problem still persists. What should I do?

You need to replace your battery connector. Please give us the last 3 characters of your serial number so we can determine your exact machine. Then we will be able to point you to the proper part and guide for the replacement. Also download and install Coconut Battery. It is a free program, you can download and read about it here. Please let us know what it has to say about your battery.
