No screen picture although backlight works

Hey all, was using my laptop as usual until the screen suddenly turned black. Now my laptop's screen doesn't work at all. Basically I can see that the backlight still works as I can still readjust it but I get a constant black screen (dimmed with the backlight), connecting it to an external monitor works, any Idea of what this could be? Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

hi @walterwhite4773

Try the following

  1. Run the computer in safe mode
    • Hold down the Shift button and then press and hold down the POWER button until the computer restarts.
  2. Recovery Mode
    • Press and hold COMMAND + OPTION + P + R and then press the power button
  3. Reset SMC
    • Press and hold SHIFT + CONTROL + OPTION then press and hold the the POWER button for 10 seconds
    • Then Press power button to turn on the laptop

If these method fail, then remove the back cover of the laptop and disconnect, the battery, keyboard and trackpad connectors, SSD (if installed) and the display connector (OPTIONAL) for about 30s to allow the system to drain the remaining charge. Re-connect everything and try to turn on again.

If this still doesn’t bring back your image, I would be looking around the display connector to see if there is any obvious signs of damage or dislocation of the connector itself.

Hope it helps!
