Mac mini started slowing down, now it won't boot.

My Mac Mini started getting hung up whenever I had more than one web browser open. I couldn't even force quit to keep moving. So I forced shut down several times hoping that re-boot would get it back to normal. Now I turn it on, get the sound and then it just hangs there and does NOTHING. No signal to my monitor at all.

UPDATE: After at least 20 minutes of it hanging there it finally went to the password screen. I put in the password and now I only have a blank screen with no menu, no deck, nothing. Blank screen.

OKAY - one more update - it does eventually get to a screen with a movable mouse and I can click on icons, but it hangs up and doesn't do anything. Do I have ANY options???
