How to do a fresh install of macos Lion?

Hi guys,

i bought recently an imac a1207 that has no os on it, when i boot I’m on the screen of utility with different option (reinstall lion, wipe hard drive, assistance…) i did some research on the internet and i saw that it’s kinda complicated to do an install, so it would be super if someone can help me with a step by step using usb installer. Also, i saw that the update from snow leopard to lion is free, so maybe, i can install snow leopard then lion. Thanks for your help :)

Using your El Capitan based system you’ll need to create a bootable OS installer CD/DVD disk for your A1174/A1207 system. This series if I remember correctly won’t boot from a USB drive. It requires either a bootable CD/DVD or a bootable FireWire drive.

Download the Lion installer directly from Apple from here: Mac OS-X Lion Installer

First run it to install the OS onto the re-writable CD/DVD your system can support so its bootable and then copy over the installer to the CD/DVD following this guide Create a Bootable DVD Copy of OS X Lion Installer. Then use it to boot up your A1174/A1207 system.

The installer on Apple website can be launched on el capitan ? Because it didn’t work on the one on Catalina because i tried the other day.

@anthony10006 - Did you follow guide I posted? Create a Bootable DVD Copy of OS X Lion Installer. There is a process you need to follow.

You can't directly launch the installer.
