Why is this camera not registering as a dashcam on kenwood head unit?

I have had this professionally installed to a kenwood DMX 8019 DABS head unit. the head unit recognises it as a “front camera” rather than a “dashcam” and i am therefore unable to control the camera settings from the head unit. Any suggestions welcome

Hi @rshugh ,

Have you checked the camera assignment settings for the dashcam as per p.55 of the user manual?

Just needed to assign the camera as a “dash camera” in the camera assignment settings of the head unit as the installer had assigned it as a “front camera”. the dash camera assignment button is just to the right of the front camera assignment button. thanks to @jayeff

I am also having the same problem. I assigned the Dash cam as front view/ dash cam. And I’m still unable to see the settings.?

@James Conant

Front view camera and dash cam are two different assignment settings. They are very close to each other on the screen.

Not sure if you know this as you said , "I assigned the Dash cam as front view/ dash cam."

I am also having this issue. I have the drv-n520 paired with the dmx9706s head unit.

Dash cam is wired correctly, red to accessory, yellow to constant 12v, black to gnd. Interface harness is plugged into head unit. The recording light is lit up on the camera and I can see video on the head unit but I cannot assign the camera as a dash cam. The option is not there so I can’t see the settings

In the “Camera Configuration Settings” in the head unit on “Front view/dash cam” I do not have the option to select dashboard camera

Just confirming that in the Menu > Setup > Camera > Camera Assignment Settings you don't have the front view camera/dash cam option as per p.79 of the user guide, is this correct?

Check if the latest firmware is installed
