Why am I having serious audio lag?

Hi guys my PlayStation was recently serviced by a very reputable technician, my PS4 is running really well, the only issue is that I have serious audio lag, even in game , movement is very fluid (no lag), but when it comes to the audio, it cuts in and out a lot.

so what I have also noticed is that with my TurtleBeach recon 200 headset ( plugged in to controller) is that when I walked a distance of ten feet from the console it would be fine no audio lag , this is when I first got the headset , now that I walk to the same ten feet away is very bad in terms of audio, I have tried other headsets and it’s the same audio lag, I changed hdmi cables and still no change, could it be the antenna in the console or possibly the hat drive? Anyone can help?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Menu lag is almost always a harddrive failure. especially if that ps4 is a slim. Harddrive failure are very common for that model for some reason.

I’ve have not seen them with audio lag, but since you had menu lag, I would say there a good chance that is the issue.

You did not mentioned what the tech has done with the ps4, but from your descrition, I would guess an internal cleaning and possibly a firmware update or reinstallation. If that is the case, the update or reinstallation of the firmware on a bad harddrive will often seem to resolve the problem for a few days or so until things starts to get corrupted again.

Try a different harddrive, or ask your tech if he can test a different harddrive, possibly under warranty, to see if that fixes the problem.

I hope this helps

Ok so the issue was fixed, the connection between the two solder points for the wifi/Bluetooth antenna was found broken, it was re-soldered and there is no more AUDIO lag. Yes you were also right to assume that the system was taken in for a general cleaning and re-installation of software, this was done as an attempt to troubleshoot the audio lag issue before I spent money on a new hard drive.

Can you suggest what would be the best alternative hard drive as mine is original and 1terrabyte , should I go SSD? What are your thoughts?

Hi,

Glad you guys found the audio issue!

Harddrive or SSD is really more a question of budget.

SSD will usually allow you to install games faster, and load games and sceens faster since the read/write us faster on a ssd.
