USB device not recognized when I connect

This IPOD Touch has worked on this computer (HP Windows 7) in the past. IPOD still works otherwise, including wireless connection. Will recharge using 110v adapter. Problem began after battery was run completely down playing the IPOD on set of Altec Lansing powered speakers. These speakers have a dock but do not recharge the IPOD. I have Itunes 10 and have tried reloading Itunes. If I could update library wireless I would not even worry about it.

Have you checkld your dock connector for any damage, corrosion, bend pins? Check the USB cable for the same? You get the same problem when your iPod is fully charged? How long does your iPod hold a charge from fully charged to no charge?
