Unable to boot to recovery, internet recovery, or bootable recovery

Hey everyone.

I lost my passcode and recovery key and was trying to boot into recovery.

I’ve tried Command + R: the bar slowly filled up to 100% and then just remained there.

I tried Command + Option + R and Command + Option + Shift + R: it got the globe icon, asked me for my wifi credentials, but once it started loading the bar started glitching (like getting full, then having empty spaces in the middle). Eventually I got error -2003F

Bootable recovery media: same as Cmd + R, slowly filled up to 100% and got stuck.

Some more info to narrow down the issue:
- With internet recovery I can see the Macbook using 1mbps download for about 30 mins then it stops
- It boots to the typical login screen just fine, but I’ve lost my passcode and recovery key

I recently did some repair work on the computer. Particularly, the battery was giving me an issue so I removed it (it is without a battery till my replacement arrives). I also was having issues with the microphone, but I damaged the replacement part so the microphone and audio board are also disconnected. Could this affect it?

Thank you!

Turns out it was the battery. Re-installing the battery fixed the issue.
