My macbook had a run in with some liquid but everything still works aside from the keyboard which i am having replaced, but oddly it wont go into sleep mode when selected from the menubar it will go black for about 5 sec. then wakes back up. I think its because the keyboard constantly thinks im pressing the shift key(from liquid damage), is this the reason?

It could be--liquid damage does strange things. You will know for certain after you replace the keyboard. While you are at it I would strongly recommend you follow the ifixit liquid damage guide to be on the safe side and to prevent further damage. Good luck.
