Outside of not working in your computer, I can't locate the part number at Seagates site or anywhere on the web. Wrong number maybe?

Hi! Sorry to say it, but your laptop only works with standard ATA/IDE drives, not SATA. It's not just a matter of a cable -- the IDE controller in the computer needs to support SATA, which it doesn't. You'll need to get a standard IDE hard drive, and unfortunately there's no other way about it.

The drive you bought will work in MacBooks, but not iBooks or PowerBooks.

Here's a list of the hard drive that iFixit carries for your machine: http://www.ifixit.com/Mac-Parts/PowerBoo...
