New battery, charged to 100% (5 hours) shuts down instantly unplugged

I just replaced the battery in Lenovo Carbon X1 Gen 3. Let it charge for several hours. Start up with A/C plugged in runs - battery indicates 100% charge. When I unplug power adapter it shuts down instantly.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hey Do Hickey,

I hate to say it but it seems like a bad battery, even though it is new and seemingly charged.

One thing you could try, if you are so inclined, would be to reset the CMOS battery and try it all again.

Hope this helps.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but I have the exact same laptop and it seems like when you plug in power it goes black for a second so it might be a problem with the bios and see if you can update it.
