Low screen backlight after display replacement

Hello all,

I have replaced the broken display of my MacBook Pro 13 A1989 with an original display of the same model coming from another MacBook.

The backlight of the display is super low, I can barely see any image, while keyboard light, Touch Bar, webcam, Touch ID, and so on, work great.

I have tried resetting the SMC, but there was no change.

Any idea if I plugged anything loosely so the display can’t get enough power, or something like that? The replacement display was working.

Thank you!

This is one of the few cases the display cable from the logic board to the T-CON could be bad or have a bent pin/contact.

Take some pics of the connections and post them here, do make sure they are in focused Adding images to an existing question

Thank you! I've attached a picture of the current status in the main post, do you need me to unplug something to provide some details? I'm a newbie, sorry!

I've added a couple of pictures of the display cable, are they detailed enough? Do you think it might be the cause?

Thanks!

@giantronik - The T-CON socket looks a bit off top right corner. I'm suspecting this is a bad part. Can you exchange it for a new one (display assembly)?

by

@danj thank you for your feedback. Looking at the pictures, you mean the part in the bottom with the codes written, that comes with the display, or the part on the top, the one near the spudger? I could return the display and get a different one. Thank you

by

@giantronik - I would swap it out.
