Phone goes into silent/vibrate mode when touching the upper left area

Replaced the jack cable, but now when I lightly touch or press the upper left corner area it puts the phone into silent mode or vibrates (turned off now b/c that got annoying fast).

Everything is in place and aligned, can't see anything that would be touching or causing this. Compared to another 3GS and everything looks the same (in place).

No idea what's causing this?

put mute switch on flex in down position is easiest for getting alignment right. Check you have mute button on right way (dot at top near screen) should only really fit in that way but it can be put in upside down and then the mute switch has no "groove" to keep it in place.

How exactly should you remove and re-insert the switch?

The only thing it can be is the alignment of the tab that inserts into the outer switch. If it's off ever so slightly it will do this. That's the worst part (in my opinion) to remove and put back.

Good luck
