Phone Crashes and Restarts After Battery Replacement
I was having problems with shortened battery life on my iPhone 3GS, so I bought the 3GS battery replacement kit, followed the instructions, and completed the replacement without any significant trouble.
After turning on the phone, it initially seemed to work OK. However, after plugging it in to charge, the "battery fully charged" icon appeared while the level indicator remained stuck at 70%. The phone also began crashing and restarted itself every few minutes. After a couple soft/hard resets, the indicator now reads 12% (which I assume is more accurate), but it still crashes and restarts every 5 minutes or so while plugged in to charge, and still shows the "charged" rather than "charging" icon. Leaving the phone plugged in (with numerous reboots occuring) also does not seem to increase the charge level.
Thoughts?
Thank you,
-Mike
Is this a good question?

I'm having same problem. I just recieved my new iPhone 3gs battery replacement, installed it just fine, and now my phone restarts a few minutes plugged in or not. Don't know what to do.

Agreed, do what Polly has said. If the original battery is available and swaps in making the issues go away, then you have a defective battery. this is more common than you think. Contact ifixit/whomever you bought it from.

Thanks for the feedback. I replaced the original battery and the issue went away (but I was back to a poorly performing battery). After contacting ifixit, they sent me another replacement battery (free of charge), and this second one is now working perfectly in my phone. Looks like the first one was in fact defective.
Thanks again,
-Mike

Excellent, great you got it working again. All you have left to do now is to accept the answer that helped you most ;-)
