Horizontal pink lines on screen

Hi, I just opened my laptop this afternoon and there were pink, green, and blue lines all around the screen when the laptop is open. However, when the laptop is about 45 degrees open the lines completely disappear and the screen works fine. Due to this, I think this is a connection issue, but the apple store directly said they need to replace the whole display. Is there anyway I could fix the connection or display that won’t cost me 750 dollars?

The lines vary in thickness and how much they show up, but they are flickering.

Is your system still under warranty? If it is I would get to an Apple Store or authorized service center to get your system fixed ASAP!

I would try plugging in an external display to isolate out what needs repair. I’m suspecting the display has failed (T-CON board) if the external is not encountering issues. If the external is also showing the issue then its the logic board.
