iPad Home Button not working after Digitizer Replacement

I replaced the digitizer specifically because I accidentally broke the home button connector ribbon. I have to use the one I have (the new one I mean) or buy another. When I connect the digitizer and LCD panel, the home button does not work. I have not fully assembled the iPad yet, as I wanted to check if it worked. Do I have to fully assemble to get the button to work? and if not then can anyone see my problem?

That looks like an iPad Air home button, which carries a different protocol and is not compatible with iPad 5.

Either that or the home button is faulty.

That’s actually a really helpful input, when I bought it it was labeled as a digitizer for iPad 5 or iPad Air. So does this mean that it just really isn’t the right home button?

@Nathan Mayo That explains it, you got the wrong home button (iPad Air)
