Did you take your mainboard out? If not, here are some possible solutions:

1) You likely do not have the connectors plugged in. I would check the 3 connectors where the screen plugs into the board, and the dock connection.

Likely, your phone is fine, but no picture on the screen, leading you to assume it is dead.

2) If connectors are fine, and you did not take the mainboard out, hold the top and home button down. Even if you do not see a picture, the phone will turn on. After about 2 minutes, try the mute switch. Does it vibrate? Try also plugging into a computer, does it connect?

Please reply with the answers and we will continue from there.

Hope this helps,
