Space bar doesn't work!

I have a new to me, used Macbook which works great except that the space bar and shift button don't seem to be working. I guess this is okay but itmakeseverythinghardtoread! Help!

Options

Hook up an external keyboard to test. If the external works the topcase with keyboard probably had water damage and will need to be replaced.
