Why after a reset to factory settings will it not sync?

You might want to try a different USB cord, different port, or different version of iTunes (maybe create a guest user account). Is this a 3G model? Do you have a sim card installed?

iPads are difficult to sync and update with iTunes. The 1st gen that is.

Good luck!

I've tried 4 cords and as many itunes as I could find but its still not recognized by the computer in any of the 3 usb ports. I just bought the thing and reset it the first time I touched it so havent got to play with it at all.
