Will not boot / Pulled top cover and got it to boot

The MacBook would not boot. I could hear the disc drive make noise and the fan come on but no video or booting. I pulled the top case and put it back on and then all the sudden it booted when I push P R option command keys after booting. I had the top case sitting on top and and it booted and was at the desktop in the OS when all the sudden it went black. Seems like a loose cable. Now it is back to where I started and I can't get it to boot again.

Is there a way to boot without the top case? I can't find any jumper on the logic board on this model.

I found it. Thank you for the picture. It turns on the same (shorting the pins) as with the top cover and power button. The fan starts and the disc drive but nothing else. So that rules out the top cover. Seems like it has to be a loose connection somewhere since it started fine and then stopped again.

What connectors would do this? WHat should I check next?

directly below the fan are two points that you can short with a screwdriver to power the machine on. it should say power next to it and the two points in question are directly to the right of a three legged diode about 3/4 of a centimeter from the keyboard connector. The keyboard assembly uses a USB bus so if anything is shorted in the top case it will prevent the unit from posting. I would post a picture as I have an A1181 board here however the camera in my phone has failed and I have not yet found a solution to my problem.
