I am using my ipod from 9 months and yesterday automatically the sleep button stuck and is no more responding.Earlier when i used to press the button it would go get pressed but now it doesnt. Can anyone help regarding it and which part is broken?

The button itself is most likely broken. If it is under a year old and there is no water or physical damage they will replace it under warranty.

Enter your serial number on that site to verify. You can usually just mail it through UPS for free.

If it is not covered you can replace the part, however, the repair is difficult. I don't recommend opening a 4th gen unless you have considerable experience.
If you do try, be sure to only use plastic tools when lifting the glass and LCD.
Soldering would be required to install the part.
The 4th gen is commonly having sleep button issues.
