Lost haptic feedback, how can I repair it?

Although the Apple store “genius” insists I must have spilled something on it, I did not. They of course want $799 to fix it as a result. The Mac simply locked up during normal use and when I figured out how to hard reset it, I lost the haptic feedback. I tried resetting nvram, etc from other websites, but looks like my issue is hardware related. Can anyone help?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Well, this is quite a puzzle!

Given how new the system you really have no choice!

You’ll need to ask to speak with the manager and then the next level up until you get it acknowledged its a defect not liquid damage and its needs to be covered under warranty >Free<

Once fixed you should also ask to speak with the original genius who told you incorrectly for an apology. Otherwise the next bloke we get the same song and dance!
