DIY repair gone wrong

Hi guys. I bit off a more then I could chew attempting a housing swap on my iPhone 8. Everything works fine but the bottom microphone (calls and voice memo mic). I ordered a new charging port assembly with microphone attached assuming the old was broken but same thing happened again. No voice and a horrible static noise. Have I missed something???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

There are 4 total mics in the iPhone 8 plus. Two at the bottom on the charge port, one at the top by the ear speaker, and one by the rear facing camera.

The two on the port are used for I believe Siri and when talking on the phone using the ear speaker. When you switch to speaker phone, it uses the mic at the top by the ear speaker and I believe voice memos uses that one as well. So your next step should be to replace the front camera assembly as that is what that top mic connects to. Keep in mind that when you replace that assembly, you’ll lose TrueTone unless you can reprogram it with a special tool.
