Charging IC (is625Hrtz) of my 13" MacBook Pro burnt

Hello,

The charging IC is6259HZ is burnt badly. Further the pins from 15 to 21  of is6259HZ  & R7001 & C7050 are also damaged. The battery was not getting charged with this. However, the green light is coming on the connector of Magsafe adapter.

Further I have tried the other charged battery from my friend’s system in my system and it is working all fine. The computer is running all okay I guess with charged battery. Kindly suggest in detail (I can solder a few things):

  1. Is there any way to charge the battery externally using supply (via shorting any circuit etc.) ?
  2. Or, I could turn on the system with any power supply via battery ports?
Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I tried to inject 12v,3amp supply in 3rd(GRD) and 7th (PPVBAT_G3H_CONN((+ve) pin on Battery terminal.

I reset the SMC & turn on the power button. It works.

In OS it shows 64% Battery- and not charging.

After few hours it shows 63% not charging status.

The side button for battery status also blinking 4 led's.

If I turn-off the power supply, the MBP turn off immediately.

The MBP works for 2 days & it stopped working after blinking breathe light once(1sec). Fan also start for 2 seconds & stops.

I thing, direct supply to battery terminals may work if I can give signal to the remaining 4, 5 & 6 pin of the battery connectors. As per schematic it is:

4 -SMBUS_SMC_BSA_SCL

5- SYS_DETECT_L

6-SMBUS_SMC_BSA_SDA

I checked the battery terminal (I opened it) with multi-meter. The battery is not showing anything on all 9 pins. However, the cells are charged because I checked the Cell output terminals (4v, 8v, 12v) & its showing significant output of 3.6V, 6.9v, 11.6V. I guess the circuit of the battery is dead.

further, can anyone tell what is the output signal for the following since i dont have any other battery:

4 -SMBUS_SMC_BSA_SCL

5- SYS_DETECT_L

6-SMBUS_SMC_BSA_SDA

The chip you are describing is U7000 (ISL6259HRTZ)

As you can see its the traffic cop of your power to your system! Sadly you’ll need to get your system to someone who has the deep skills to fix your logic board. This is beyond what a DIY can do! Even I have my limits as you likely have trace damage which makes this a much harder job.

You only other option is finding a replacement logic board. Here’s one option 13” Unibody Macbook Pro Logic Board 2.3GHz i5 (Early 2011), Apple P/N 661-6078

Your system can support either the early or late 2011 boards as well as the 2012 with a slight adjustment to the displays LCVDS cable.
