Hi @eagleage,

I assume that what you meant when you said “…19.2volt supply to Motherboard good” is that there is no power available on the motherboard and not just that the charger’s output was OK?

If you did only mean that the charger’s output was OK and haven’t checked for power on the motherboard itself then maybe it is a faulty power connector cable-part #813945-001 socket. (supplier example only to show part and approx. cost - search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best if it is the problem).

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.70 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the cable.

You should only have to disassemble the laptop far enough so that you can unplug the cable from the motherboard so that you can test the wires in the cable for continuity from the socket to the cable plug. Sometimes with this type of connector the inner pin connector (red wire in cable) breaks internally in the socket which open circuits the power supply path to the motherboard. When the battery finally drains due to not being able to be charged then the laptop will appear dead as you describe

If you did get power on the motherboard with the charger connected then the only option may be to purchase the schematics for the motherboard and to find out why there is no power being indicated when it is available on the motherboard.

There are no free schematics available online for this motherboard. At least none that I could find.

As there are a lot of different HP 250 models having i3 CPUs I chose the model that you selected in your question, i.e. HP 250 G4 laptop to try and find the schematics. This model has a COMPAL LA-C701P motherboard.

The board make and model number is what consistently showed up when searching for the motherboard information using the laptop model number.

If this is not the laptop model or the motherboard, find the motherboard’s board number in your laptop (printed on motherboard) and search online for (insert board make and model number) schematics to hopefully find them.

Hopefully a start.
