It chime when switch on but after login there is no sound ie no output

It chime when switch on but after login there is no sound ie no output device found. After login, the volume symbol light up but when I tried to adjust volume the symbol light goes out. Tried SMC, NVRAM reset but the same happen. Any idea what is the problem.
