problem with the phone unlock slider

hi, my screen has slight damage but has so for some time. the top slider works fine and so do the ipod controls when double tapping the round menu button. the issue is the slider now does not work, so i can see and hear texts and calls but i cant unlock the phone to answer or read them!

is there a way to unlock without using the slider, i dont have a password on the phone so fingers crossed. also is there a repair for this, the screen works partially, seems the problem is only at the bottom, would a restore help? many thanks

no.2 is digitiser. Turn phone off first before repairs. I've edited this so that all the links on the right are for your phone. Good luck

Chosen Solution

First thing is to know which iphone you have...none of the parts are interchangeable between the generations. If you have a 2g or 4g the LCD and digitiser are not separable and should be bought as a combined unit.

The "touch" screen is called the digitiser, this is the part that is broken on your phone. Once it fails it really can't be fixed by a restore. You can try opening iphone and repositioning the connector, but usually the only fix is a replacement part. click on the "device" links under the photo of the phone and you'll be able to find your phone and the guides for replacing the part.
