Snow Leopard system disc is stuck in the drive

Macbook White Intel Duo 2.13 gb with Matshita DVD-R UJ-857E is no longer reading the disc and it not showing up in finder. It will maKe a noise then nothing. I can't eject the disc after having tried many techniques, including eject disc in terminal or anything else.

The command you can run in terminal isn't eject disc, it's "drutil eject"

That said, there are a few things you can try:

  • You can start up holding down C or option, then after it boots into that mode hit eject
  • I've had it work sometimes where if you start verifying the drive in disk utility, then run drutil eject it ejects stuck disks
  • Turn off the computer. Now, turn on the computer and hold down the trackpad button to force-eject the disc in the optical drive. Begin to hold the trackpad button as soon as you press the power button and do not let go until the disc has ejected.
