Upgrading to 1TB HDD.

15" MacBookPro Core Duo - A1150. Do you know if the WD 1TB drive will fit? It's 12.5mm thick rather than 9.5mm, and I don't want to find out the hard way

Take the drive out. It's just the three screws in the ram bracket and put some old playing cards on it till you get to the correct height and tape them down and see if it will slide in.

NIce answer Mayer. Thats the kind of thinking I like to see.


The question is whether there is room for a thicker drive, (12.5mm rather than 9.5mm), not the other way round The drive I'm looking at is the WD10 TEVT 1TB or 750GB (WD 7500KEVT)


Re-read my answer please. Take the thin drive that you have now and stack it higher till you get to 12.5 mm and see if it will slide in.


I didn't want to take the machine apart and then find I couldn't put a thicker drive in, and thought someone may have experience. It's my first attempt at upgrade other than memory, hence my hesitation!
