only turns on when plugged into mains power

my iphone 4 16gb fell into the toilet. i managed to retrieve it and dried in for 3 days in rice.

the problem i am now having is that the phone will only work when id is plugged into the mains power.

if i keep it plugged in everything works fine, but as soon as i disconnect the mains cable, it switches off after a few seconds.

what is the problem that need fixing???

please help.

My suggestion would be that you follow this Guide First thing I'd do after that is to change the battery :-) good luck.
