USB connection problem, appears to be some sort of system issue
Anyone else ever have this problem? How do I fix this?

Have you tried using a different compatible USB cable, you didn’t say?
I don’t know the phone and it is not shown in the user manual but maybe check what the USB settings are set for in Developer Options > USB Debugging in the Settings menu of the phone.
Also try using the phone in safe mode and check it it works OK or not if neither of the above solves the problem.
