Why is my synthesizer not responding to midi note messages?

I have my midikeyboard connected to an analog bassmodule (Control Synthesis- Deep Bass Nine). The module is not responding to the note messages. However, I also connected a next midi instrument with a THRU connection from the Deep Bass Nine. The next midi instrument DOES respond to the midisignals.
