Unable to Connect to Monitor/TV

Hey,

So I’ve been working with 2 screens for a while ( the laptop and an external monitor) and everything was working fine with a USB-C to HDMI output.

I disconnected the laptop by physically unplugging the USB - C and tried to plug it in again at a different time and it simply doesn’t recognise a second screen. I tried it also by connecting the HDMI to my TV instead but again no recognition.

Tried reinstalling drivers, tried recovery of windows to before the ‘unplugging’. Reinstalled the USB PD firmware.

Problem is I don’t have another device to check if the USB-C to HDMI is faulty. Should I format my computer and try? I’ve unplugged it countless of times and it worked, I don’t know why this time was different.

Thanks in advance.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @bobbib ,

Don't know the answer but have you visually checked that the pins in the connectors at each end of the USB-C to HDMI cable are OK and not damaged or missing?

Did you try both USB-C ports in the laptop?

Do the USB-C ports still work OK with other devices?

The problem may be with the adapter you are using or the USB-C port on your computer. Is there a way you can purchase an HDMI to USB-A adapter or a full HDMI cable? That way, you would be using a different cable and a different port in one fell swoop.
