Spilled milk on motherboard

Hi my apple mac book had milk spill in to the mother broad, I do not know it for long time, the laptop won't start , then I take it to apple store, they said need replace the new mother broad cost $800, it is too much for me , it almost a new laptop cost. I wonder is any way can fix it for lower cost? Can I do it myself?
