How to replace broken LCD on LG Cosmos Touch (LG VN270)?

Hi,

I recently got a LG Cosmos Touch (LG VN270) for my upgrade and the screen has broken on it. Everything else works on it, antenna, digitizer, vibrate motor, etc., but the LCD. I do not have insurance on it so I would like to try and the repair myself as to save a little bit of money. The problem is though, I haven't the slightest clue how to get the phone apart and replace the LCD. The closest I have gotten was getting to the motherboard. After that, i have no idea how to get to the screen. If anybody can give me some guidance it would be greatly appreciated. Tips, suggestions, full tutorials, anything! Just help shed some light on this project so i can continue to use my phone.

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

You can download the service manual for your phone from here. It does have an excellent explosion diagram that will show you how it is all located. Of course it has a whole bunch of other info too. The lcd is available at places like this, and many others I am sure. Just do a good Google search and see what you can find that you like.

Hi Turk03: Could you enable the above referenced link on your share site? I'm planning to take a whack at a repair job, and would like to see your diagram if possible. Thanks!

Turn the phone off

Remove back pannel

Remove battery

Unscrew 6 screws

Take off the piece of plastic covering keyboard and motherboard

Then there will be a cable for digitizer/lcd unplug

After that there will be more screws

Sorry not sure how many

Then take off the piece of metal

Unplug another cable

Slowly, Steadly, Not to hard push upwards to remove old screen

Then apply new one put everything back together, and add the screws back in.

Put the battery in, and batter pannel, turn that on, now your phone works like new, and works like a brand new out of the box...... XD

It is not necessary to remove the 4 black screw to remove the LCD panel. I found this out after stripping the head on one and having to figure out a workaround. :) Thanks for the info on this.

Also, unfortunately, this did not fix my touch screen problem... :(
