Wrongly take out the home button ribbon cable retainer

Dear All,

In Article : Installing iPhone 4 Home Button step 31

I was wrongly pull out the home button ribbon cable retainer, will it effect the connection between the home button? Thanks.

I suppose you did not damage the cable? Then you can just put it back. Check carefully that the ribbon is not torn any place. It it looks ok it may still be damaged but unfortunately you must reassemble the iPhone to check that.

I'd agree with asle, have had plenty of these connectors on earlier models where retainer has snapped off..if the ribbon is ok, 9/10 they will still work. Only way is to try it!

my retainer doesn't hold the cable back.is this normal? i can pull out the thin home button cable, while the retainer flap is down

The retainer should hold the cable. Does the retainer flap look ok? Seems the hinges could have loosened on one side maybe. If it does not hold the cable in place there usually is still enough contact for it to work. I would try. Otherwise I would need a real closeup picture of that.
