After disassembling my MacBook my "J" key will not work.

My DVD drive wasn't working, so I pulled it to find my roommate had shoved two DVD's in there. I reassembled the MacBook (minus one screw on the back casing) and now my "J" key will not work. I've tested all of the other keys, and they are working fine. Any advice on what to do next? Keep it simple. I'm not electronically inclined. Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Did you pop the J key off to make sure there isn't just something stuck under there?

yep. it works if i push it without the key on it, or if the key is attached on the left OR right side, but not if it's completely attached.

The same thing happened to me with my D key (it works but i have to press it very hard). Both the D and the J key are directly above 2 screws that you would have removed and put back as part of the disassembly. The two Torx T6 screws that go in above the memory modules.

What I did (i'm pretty sure...) is on reassembly I used two of the four long pointed screws in those holes on accident, one of which poked through and damaged the D key. I reverted to the correct length screws, but appears the damage is permanent...

Only fix I can think of is buy a new keyboard... which i'll probably have to do know b/c this is so annoying!
