How to turn on an iPod video (5g) without a battery?

I got an iPod that wasn’t working. I opened it up and saw that it had no battery. unfortunately, iPods won’t turn on without a battery. Is there a way around this?

Unfortunately, no - other than ordering a new battery.

Update - you apparently can, although you'll need a 30 pin to FireWire cable and something that has FireWire

USB to FireWire converters exist.
